NYU Tandon School of Engineering Center

The NYU Tandon School of Engineering Center for Kl2 STEM Education, with ExpandEd Schools and The Pinkerton Foundation, is pleased to announce that we are offering a series of week-long FREE workshops open for applications from students entering 6th, 7th, 8th or 9th grade in September 2018.

  • July 30 - August 3 (Internet of Things)
  • August 13 - August 17 (Internet of Things)

Creativity in Engineering, Science and Technology (CrEST) teaches middle school students about circuitry, electronics, design, 3D printing and mechanical systems and how to use skills and knowledge in these areas to create interactive devices.

Apply now and select the week or weeks you are interested in attending the CrEST program. The theme for the week-long programs is  the “Internet of Things” (connecting devices to the internet to transmit data and control other devices).

The program runs Mondays through Fridays from 10am to 4pm at our downtown Brooklyn campus at 6 MetroTech Center. Spaces are available for the weeks of July 30 and August 13. Students will receive 25 hours of workshop during that week and be given a one hour lunch break.

Please note that applications will be assessed on rolling basis and we will notify applicants of their status within approximately one week from submission.

Other important information:

  • Ensure that you will be available for the full week to which you apply.
  • Remember, the application essay MUST be completed by the applying student and NOT by a parent or guardian. Be sure to double check your essay responses for grammatical and spelling mistakes.
  • This is a daily drop-off program. It runs from 10am to 4pm.  Participating students must either be picked up at 4pm, or be given permission to leave campus on their own (you indicate this on the application form).
  • The Center for K12 STEM Education does not provide any transportation or public transport allowance to students. The program does not provide food/lunch. Students will need to bring lunch and snacks, or money to purchase food.
