Class to Class - What’s Being Learned in the 6th Grade Hallway | |||||||||||||||
ELA - Ms. Yang - kyang@motthall2.org 6R/6B - Ms. Nam - knam@motthall2.org In ELA, scholars are working on their final project for our research unit, and will be creating both a write-up and a presentation of a self-developed research question supported by credible sources. The ELA finals will be on May 28th. It will cover strategies and skills that we have learned throughout the year. | |||||||||||||||
Math - Ms. Tapada - etapada@motthall2.org 6R/6B - Ms. Alalouf - malalouf@motthall2.org We will be learning about Statistics and how to display and interpret data. We will then move on to reviewing what we have learned this year in preparation for the final exam. The final will take place on June 5th. | |||||||||||||||
Science - Ms. Acevedo - yacevedo@motthall2.org 6R/6B - Ms. Alalouf - malalouf@motthall2.org In Science we are currently learning about Biodiversity and the food chain. We are learning to create concept maps to organize and relate our thinking. We will be going on a trip to the Bronx Zoo to reinforce these topics. We will also begin to start reviewing for our cumulative Science final on June 3rd. | |||||||||||||||
Social Studies - Ms. Breach - lbreach@motthall2.org 6R/6B - Ms. Nam - knam@motthall2.org We are finishing our unit on Ancient Rome. We will end our unit with an exploration of their theories on what caused the fall of Rome. Study guides will be given out this week and we will spend two classes working on study skills. The final will take place on May 30th. End of Year Trip to High Exposure The 6th grade will be going on an end of year trip to High Exposure, a fun, team building facility in Northvale, NJ. Students will participate in rock climbing and many other fun activities. Last week we handed out our behavior expectations for this wonderful trip. If you child hasn't given you the copy yet, please ask them for this so you can sign it. The permission slip and waiver with details about the trip will be sent home at a later this month. Students will be required to maintain an average of 85 on their weekly class performance grades from now until the trip. As the reports are handed out in advisory each Monday, you will be able to track your child's progress. | |||||||||||||||
