ELA Ms. Julien-Ndjiki Email: | Current Unit of Study: March is Essay Writing Month that commenced in February. Upcoming Assessments: An essay was due on Friday, March 1 and another essay will be due the week of March 11. Note the ELA state test is scheduled for April 1 and April 2. How to Support Your Scholar: Talk to your scholar about the thesis statement that she or he developed for their independent reading book essay. Please encourage your scholar to read. Office Hours: Mondays from 1:15 - 2:00 in room 415 or by appointment |
Math Ms. McGrade/Ms. Chao Email: | Current Unit of Study: Quadratic Equations Upcoming Assessments: There will be a unit exam the last week of March which will cover the whole unit of quadratics (which we have been doing since after February break). How to Support Your Scholar: Please encourage scholars to complete all homework assignments which are posted on PupilPath as well as ask for help during class or office hours. Also scholars can get the Barron’s review book to begin practicing problems for the Regents exam in June. Science Mr. Shetia/Ms. Chao Email: | Current Unit of Study: Evolution: we are starting the evolution unit this week, where scholars are learning about different theories that explain the possible causes for evolution (the changes overtime). Science Fair Grade wide presentation on March 18th (9am to 11 am) Family Night Science Fair on March 21st from 5 pm to 7 pm Upcoming Assessments: There will be a major test during the 3rd week of March that will cover genetics and part of evolution unit. How to Support Your Scholar: Please review the worksheets and homework with your scholars. There are a soft copy of the PowerPoints and worksheets files attached on Pupilpath under each assignment for your reference. Also it is time for scholar to practice Regents questions using the red Barron’s review book or through this link in order to prepare for the Regents exam June 18th (http://www.nysedregents.org/livingenvironment/) Office Hours: Every Wednesday during lunchtime in room 407 |
Social Studies Ms. Fletcher Email: | Current Unit of Study: Students are wrapping up their study of the Great Depression and will start our World War II unit next week. We will begin our unit by reading Art Spiegelman’s family memoir of the Holocaust Maus. Upcoming Assessments: Test on the Great Depression on Monday March 11.
